Bigstockphoto_Girl_w arms open What better time than now, the start of a new year, to begin again. As you begin your path of recovery from divorce and think of the past, you need to let it be your past. Do you know that your past does not have to determine your future? Do you realize that how your future evolves is based on the daily decisions you make, as well as your thought life?

Now is a good time to think about your past; what good you can take from it, the lessons you can learn or have learned, what and how you want to change in the future. To move forward it will be necessary to let go of your past and accept your current circumstances. You can not carry around negative baggage from your past and expect to move forward and be healthy.

Letting go of the past will take some time. It may require a daily conscious effort of letting go. As you let go of the past, you need to live in faith and expectancy.

  • Believe that God has a good plan for your life.
  • Believe that God wants good things for you.
  • Wake up each day expecting good things will happen.
  • Expect and look for God’s blessing and favor in your life.
  • God wants you to be renewed as you lean on and trust Him.
  • Be a Believer not a doubter.

Decide to start a fresh and anew. God will mend your heart. He will show you your value. He is faithful. He has promised never to leave your or forsake you. Will you put your trust in Him as you begin again?

You are welcome to leave comments sharing tips that have helped you with letting go of the past that may be helpful for others. Likewise if you are struggling with letting go of the past and need encouragement from others, feel free to share.
